Mary Kraft Prepares Students for Their First Day of School

Mary Kraft Staffing & HR Solutions aids the success of Adopt-A-Student for Back-to-School by providing necessary school supplies for 23 elementary to high school-aged children.

Lutherville, MD, September 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Even the least enthusiastic kids are excited for their first day of school. New teachers and new classes, new friends with whom to recount tales of summer’s fun, and new school supplies shape the excitement of that first day. Unfortunately, many families can’t afford the supplies necessary to begin a new school year successfully. As an active community participant, Mary Kraft Staffing & HR Solutions was asked to fill that need for those families who could not.

The Fund for Social Welfare and The Volunteer Office of the Baltimore County Department of Social Services have been providing children with new school supplies for over 20 years. Recognizing Mary Kraft’s unfailing desire to lend a helping hand, Deborah Ward of the Baltimore County Department of Social Services asked the midsize regional staffing company to help ensure the success of Adopt-A-Student for Back-to-School by donating school supplies to financially disadvantaged families. Mary Kraft jumped on the opportunity and provided supplies for 23 children in 6 families. Mary Kraft staff members Karen Brown and Mark Tarleton personally delivered the supplies to the families’ homes. “As a way to make the deliveries fun, we packed the supplies in brightly colored gift bags with name tags for each child and colorful tissue and ribbons – we even color coded the bags by family,” said Mrs. Brown. The gratitude expressed by each family made the time and thought put into choosing each bookbag and binder well worth the effort. “I know this is helpful to the kids and their families. There is nothing more important than educating our children…but we really had fun pulling this all together for the kids,” said Mark Tarleton, Mary Kraft’s Sales Director.

Among Mary Kraft’s other community service initiatives are their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program. Mary Kraft, located at 1447 York Road in Lutherville, will begin running the Fall/Thanksgiving Food Drive this week and make frequent deliveries to social services drop off locations due to increased need in the county – particularly in the eastern portion of the county. The company also adopts one to two families annually through the Baltimore County Department of Social Services and provides them with a grocery gift card, enabling the family to purchase their favorite foods for the holidays, and also purchases, wraps and delivers the items on each child’s wish list for Santa to the families. “We even throw a surprise or two in for mom and dad,” said Brown.
