Marquis & Aurbach Attorneys Receive "Super Lawyers" Distinction

Las Vegas, NV, September 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Five attorneys at Las Vegas Law firm Marquis & Aurbach were selected for inclusion in Mountain States Super Lawyers 2009 Edition. Shareholders Al Marquis, Phil Aurbach and Terry Coffing received the "Super Lawyer" distinction. Shareholder Frank Flansburg and associate Layke Stolberg received the "Rising Star" distinction.

Only five percent of attorneys in Nevada are named to Super Lawyers and no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list. The selection of Super Lawyers is a rigorous, multiphase process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Super Lawyers must have practiced law for more than 10 years, while attorneys who are younger than 40 or who have been practicing for less than 10 years are eligible for the Rising Star distinction.

Al Marquis has been recognized as a Super Lawyer since 2007. Mr. Marquis is a founding member of Marquis & Aurbach and a top litigator in Southern Nevada, achieving an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Over his 34-year career, Mr. Marquis has had the privilege of participating in a number of high profile cases including a verbal abuse case against entertainer Redd Foxx; a precedent setting case where the Nevada Supreme Court ruled a shopping center anchor tenant liable for the decrease in the value of the center after it moved out and breached a covenant of continuous use; and the successful defense of actor Martin Sheen.
