Providence, RI, September 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Tech Collective, Rhode Island’s Information Technology and Bioscience Industry Association, today announces it will welcome John Igoe to its NetTech 2.0 event: “The Cloud Affects You!” on September 17, 2009 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon in Providence.
John Igoe, founder and former CTO of SilverBack Technologies, is the Director of Advanced Service Technology for Dell, a world leader in technology systems and services. John will present on aspects of emerging cloud computing technologies, including its various definitions, future directions and how it is being utilized to make IT more efficient and responsive to client and business needs. John will also discuss how the cloud will impact the IT industry and the current roles of its professional workforce.
“Information Technology is one of the fastest growing industries in the US,” said Chris Poe, Vice Chairman of the Tech Collective’s InfoGroup Steering Committee. “The cloud will certainly play a viable role in that growth, but to what degree is unclear at this time, as the cloud is connotative of a diversity of meanings to different people. John’s discussion at the NetTech 2.0 event will help to level that playing field of understanding and aid IT organizations and practitioners in advantageously leveraging the capabilities of this emerging technology.”
“The Cloud Affects You!” is the third installment of Tech Collective’s NetTech 2.0 series, which has welcomed nearly 100 IT practitioners in Rhode Island since April 2009. NetTech focuses on networking, leadership and industry best practice sharing for IT practitioners across all industry verticals and in roles including engineering, design, development, technician and support specialist.
