Community Business College Says "Bienvenido!" "Willkommen!" "Bienvenue!" & "Welcome" to Additional Foreign Language Tools
Community Business College has added Rosetta Stone Classroom to its programs. The program gives students access to multiple languages including Spanish, French, Arabic and German. Job seekers can improve their employability prospects and gain a valuable new skill.
Modesto, CA, September 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Community Business College has added Rosetta Stone Classroom to its language studies curricula. The Rosetta Stone program allows students to access the module from any computer with Internet access and a server that allows students to pick up from where they left off on their previous lessons. Rosetta Stone is known for its commercials featuring Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps describing how the software taught him to learn to speak Chinese for the 2008 Olympics.
"We're offering the Rosetta Stone because we think it provides students with a good way to exercise the foundations of computer science on an exciting new platform," said Dan Guerra, Director of Community Business College and the faculty member overseeing the curriculum implementation. “By far, the greatest interest so far has been in learning Spanish but one of the neat things about this program is you can dabble in any of the other languages as well. Our staff tried a little Greek, Russian and Mandarin Chinese and it was a lot of fun,” he added, “we’re all on our way to becoming polyglots!” The multiple languages and levels are all available under one low price.
During a pilot phase, which started in May of 2009, faculty and staff explored and reviewed the Rosetta Stone Classroom to test its viability and the software’s ability to teach a language quickly and enjoyably. Guerra said this was important to the school because encouraging the love of learning instead of making it a chore has been what has ensured student success through all programs at Community Business College. The school has set up a reserved lab for those who wish to practice on campus.
The Community Business College Rosetta Stone Classroom is available in 25 languages, which include: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, English (British), English (American and for English as a Second Language), Filipino (Tagalog), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Persian (Farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese. Additional languages and levels will be added.
"This is a terrific way to learn a new language," Guerra said. "Once you get the hang of the style of the first few lessons, the rest comes more naturally and you find yourself unconsciously practicing throughout the day. It’s a lot of fun."
