Martin and Pleasance - Proudly Australian for 150 years - Flower Remedies Go Live on SAP Business One from Inecom
Having outgrown the implementation of its current system coupled with its limited reporting, poor control of discount groups for their major customers, the need to re-key much data and the management time spent in issue resolution - it was decided to review the main ERP solutions available.
Melbourne, Australia, September 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Martin and Pleasance Case Study
Company Profile
Martin and Pleasance has been a proudly Australian owned and operated private company for over 150 years. Over this period, they have provided an extensive range of natural remedies, a range which has evolved based on a commitment to quality and innovation.
Pioneering new and emerging products without compromising standards of performance, they continue to develop and distribute traditional products that built the company's foundations.
Some of their current products include
Bach Flower Remedies - A simple, natural and effective system of medicine to help manage emotions and restore balance
Herbal Creams - Effective on many physical ailments including eczema, acne, bruising and sports injuries and efficiently absorbed by the body
Homeopathic Range – to stimulate the body’s own ability to assist in restoring natural equilibrium and health
Ki – an Immune Defence and Vitality Formula formulated to enhance the immune system and at the same time boost the body’s energy reserves.
Zen Tincture - combining Chinese and Western medical herbs which draw on research and clinical experience from the best of both worlds.
In total, they have almost 1500 products, which are distributed predominately throughout Australia – but with a growing presence in New Zealand, South East Asia and North America. Virtual warehouses provide tight inventory control in every state to maintain a very high service level to their customers - homeopathic practitioners, complementary health providers and retail outlets to whom they provide education of the efficacy of their products.
Based in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Martin and Pleasance employs almost 40 staff, of which 12 are mobile to support their customer base.
History of Technology within Martin and Pleasance
They had outgrown their then implementation of their current system because of its limited reporting, poor control of discount groups for their major
customers, the need to re-key much data and the management time
spent in issue resolution.
Led by Finance and Operations Manager, Andrew Snelgar, they reviewed a number of solutions but made a strategic decision to upgrade their ERP support systems to SAP’s Business One. Having made that decision, from a short list of three, they selected Inecom to be their business partner, because of their industry knowledge, experience, skills and responsiveness, and as Andrew Snelgar said, “ had the right set-up.”
The Benefits
At the planned go-live date, Martin and Pleasance will have
· implemented a wide-ranging alerts system to reduce management involvement – and to permit tight delegation for actions within defined business processes
· rationalised products as a component of data cleansing during data conversion
· produced a range of management reports to be accessed via real-time dashboards
· redesigned and streamlined the processing of orders which, for the most part, are currently via phone and fax
Once completed, they will review how best to implement an Inventory Management System to reduce stock holdings – but improving order fulfilment rates and increased inventory turns driving lower costs and higher profits.
