Rhythm Signal Records & Productions Releases Vernon Drozd and the Texas Brass, 40th Anniversary Edition
After decades of being unavailable to the public, the long lost classic album, Vernon Drozd and the Texas Brass, makes its triumphant returns.
Houston, TX, September 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Vernon Drozd - The Man Known as America's Greatest Czechoslovakian Artist Returns.
On September 1, 2009, Rhythm Signal Records & Productions released “Vernon Drozd and the Texas Brass - 40th Anniversary Edition”. This rare, hard to find album was originally released on vinyl back in 1969. Since that time, collectors of polka, country / western and rockabilly have tried desperately to obtain mint copies of this album. In more recent years, a younger generation has sought out Vernon Drozd's music, thanks to his appearance in the 2005 DVD release “The Fearless Freaks” and his guest appearance live at Austin City Limits with The Flaming Lips.
Now, 40 years later, Vernon Drozd and the Texas Brass will be released for the first time into the digital world, coming out as both a CD and digital download.
With permission from Vernon Drozd and the Texas Brass, Rhythm Signal Records' Jason Anderson has brought new life to this album with his mastering skills. Anderson tackled the tedious task of painstakingly cleaning up the audio and remastering it to a sonic quality not even achieved on the original album while still retaining the original sound that was intended.
“It's a great pleasure to re-introduce this title to the public after all these years," says Jason Anderson. “It is a shame when a musician's hard work disappears and is no longer available to the public. I'm really glad that we get to bring this album back to life.”
Recognized as ahead of their time in the world of polka, Vernon Drozd and The Texas Brass energized traditional polka by mixing a bit of big band swing, a touch of south Texas country and western, a little rockabilly, and a whole lot of Czech polka.
This all-star cast of musicians include such legends as:
Vernon Drozd - Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet
Gene Lichnovsky - Piano, Trumpet
Brian McWhirter - Bass, Trombone, Vocal
Johnnie Voldan - Trumpet
James (Jimmy) Ryza - Drums
Otis Pitts - Saxophone
Morris (Sonny) Hall - Guitar
Additional legendary musicians include:
Jimmy Copeland - Acoustic Guitar
Norman Barnes - Tuba
Eddie Copeland - Trumpet, Saxophone
Tom Martin - Drums
All songs were arranged by the great Eddie Copeland
