ePortation, a Philadelphia business, appointed by the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority to provide port wide access control to tighten up security at the port using exciting new technology.
Philadelphia, PA, September 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- ePortation Inc. announced today that it has been appointed by the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA) to provide port wide access control. ePortation was selected by the port due to its innovative technology combined with their extensive maritime domain expertise. The project, which starts this month, is to build and implement a port wide access control system for the PRPA commencing with their biggest tenant, Greenwich Terminals LLC.
PRPA, a designated strategic military seaport, has demonstrated by this appointment its goal of being a forward-looking agency. By utilizing modern technology, it has placed itself in the forefront of addressing the many challenges facing today’s seaports. "The major challenge in today's port industry is to continually improve security without slowing down commerce," said Philadelphia Regional Port Authority Executive Director James T. McDermott, Jr. "By all accounts, ePortation's access control system will do just that. I'm looking forward to seeing it in action."
Greenwich Terminals LLC, the marine terminal operator at the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal stand behind the project. “We fully support this initiative undertaken by PRPA” said Mr Kurt Ferry, Director of Security for Greenwich Terminals. “This innovative technology demonstrates PRPA’s and Greenwich’s commitment to enhancing the security of the port.”
Paul Labow, CEO of ePortation, said “This system will place PRPA at the cutting edge of port wide access control and security, both nationally and globally. ePortation will utilize local and regional companies such as ComCam Intl. and others for this project.”
ePortation Inc., a Philadelphia based company, is a leader in the field of mobile technology and real time information logistics. The company’s maritime domain experience is key to providing the insight to address all maritime issues. ePortation is different in that it moves technology to the event where other products wait for the event to come to the technology. The company builds and deploys systems for managing challenging and complex environments and yet the tools are simple and easy to use. ePortation systems are in use by the US Navy; US Army; and private sector clients.
