Melvin received a bachelor’s in science in Business and Management from the University of Maryland in College Park, Md., and most recently served as the director of sales and meeting services for the R. David Thomas Executive Conference Center at The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in Durham, N.C. Active in the community, Melvin dedicates her time to the Research Triangle Park chapter of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, the International Association of Conference Centers, Meeting Professions International and the Durham Chamber of Commerce’s Professional Women’s Network.
