NSCS Announces Fall Scholar at Sea Scholarship Recipient
Washington, DC, September 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) has awarded the Fall 2009 Scholar at Sea Scholarship to Andrew Dilla. The $7,000 scholarship will partially cover his participation in the Semester at Sea program, which allows students to visit nearly a dozen countries while studying on a shipboard campus. Dilla, an Edinboro, PA native, is a junior majoring in history.
Partnering with the Semester at Sea program, NSCS presents one scholarship to an outstanding member each semester. The University of Virginia academically sponsors this program and grants credit from more than 70 courses.
"We're happy to help Andrew participate in a program that'll broaden his perspectives," said Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS' Executive Director. "His outstanding application earned him the opportunity to learn in a campus as rich in diversity as each port has to offer."
Dilla's application touched on the importance of field programs in 11 countries, the wide variety of classes on offer, and the opportunity to take several marine biology courses.
