Actor Cassandra Sawtell Set to Appear in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus at Tiff and Harper’s Island on the BBC

Vancouver, Canada, September 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Canadian actor Cassandra Sawtell is set to appear in the highly-anticipated, Sony Pictures feature film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The film will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 18th, 2009. Also starring Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and the late Heath Ledger, Imaginarium was directed by Terry Gilliam. The movie is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr. Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom.

Ms. Sawtell is also starring in the CBS series, Harper’s Island, which will be seen on the BBC Three starting September 6th. Harper’s Island tells the story of a small group of family and friends that gather on a secluded island to attend a week long wedding celebration... but the island’s history as the location of a mass killing threatens the joyous event and sets the stage for a new mystery. Cassandra plays the role of Madison perfectly – a seemingly all-knowing young girl who is keeping a secret – she knows something nobody else does.

With several film and television shows already on her resume, Sawtell is quickly becoming one of Canada’s hottest young actors. She has starred in such films as Imaginary Playmate and guest starred in television series including, Psych, Blood Ties, The Dead Zone and Smallville.
