Carlton Hobbs LLC to Exhibit at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show from October 29th Through November 1st, 2009
New York, NY, September 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Carlton Hobbs, the long established international antiques dealer, is delighted to announce his participation in the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show this fall, which will take place from Thursday, October 29th through Sunday, November 1st.
"We love the atmosphere of the San Francisco show and look forward to seeing our West coast clients there, as well as visiting a number of very exciting decorating projects under way in the area at the moment," said Hobbs, whose New York gallery is located at 60 East 93rd Street in the Vanderbilt Mansion.
While the rare pieces on display will cover a wide range of dates from the 17th to the 20th century, reflecting the diversity of Carlton Hobbs' inventory, there is a pleasing harmony to the group in their shared hues, which is dominated by deep reds and silver-gilt tones, and unusual sculptural forms which originate from the baroque. This applies even to the coral mounted and silvered mirrors dated circa 1940 from Schloß Darstadt and to the massive pair of flared champlevé vases from the 19th century, signed by Barbedienne.
Other highlights include a unique set of three Austrian maritime oil paintings with incorporated polychrome carved relief hinged panels, including a profusion of allegorical and heraldic detail, possibly representing the ascension of the Habsburg dynasty to the thrones of Bohemia and Hungary in 1521.
Also on view will be an extremely rare 17th century English red and white lacquered cabinet on its original silver-gilt stand and a pair of late 17th century red lacquer side tables of unique organic form supporting important specimen lumachella tops, which previously stood in the Palazzo Colonna in Rome.
Carlton Hobbs has previously participated at a number of other prestigious art and antique fairs, including:
The Antiques and Arts Paris Biennale
The American International Fine Art Fair, Palm Beach
The Grosvenor House Art and Antiques Fair, London
The Winter Antiques Show, New York
The International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show, New York
Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair, London
