Gainesville, FL, September 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A leading forensic expert on building envelope, water intrusion, toxic mold, and Chinese drywall, Spiderman S. Mulholland, Senior Forensic investigator and national consultant with U S Building Consultants and U S Building Laboratories Inc., has completed certifiable inspection and remediation protocols.
Mr. Mulholland understands that standardization of inspection and remediation protocols are essential in bringing a viable solution to the current crisis. Mr. Mulholland who is part of a workgroup called Defective Drywall In America (DDIA) have now completed protocols that will allow homes to be certified clean and be provided with a proposed home warranty from $100,000 to $500,000 against future problems. In fact, the program will certify licensed and approved state contractors in the remediation of defective drywall. This proposed warranty is contingent on all the drywall being removed and replaced by certified and tested domestic products. The certification and proposed warranty will also be given to homes that do not have defective drywall to help prevent loss of resale value that is currently plaguing the market place.
The development of these protocols are not new to Mr. Mulholland who has previously helped author two (2) national certification programs and was an instructor on a national level for over 15 years.
After personally inspecting homes and buildings in four states which were constructed with defective Chinese or domestic drywall, having independent laboratories provide analytical analysis of samples, and testing numerous theories on remediation, Mr. Mulholland and the DDIA are preparing to offer the first certification programs for both the inspection and the remediation processes for structures affected by defective drywall.
The basis of these protocols are derived through countless hours of hands-on inspections, research, networking with top professionals in a variety of specialties (Toxicology, Metallurgical & Failure Analysis Engineering, Chemist, Professors in analytical sciences etc.), and having independent laboratories that included Analytical Research Systems, Inc. (ARS, Inc.) and the University of Florida (ATCL, MAIC, MSE, & UFTTG) performing analytical testing and/or review of documentation pertaining to defective drywall.
The certification programs will be conducted on October 25 – 26, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Int’l. Airport Hotel Orlando, Florida and will offer certifications for the title designation of Certified Defective Drywall Inspector (CDDI), Certified Defective Drywall Consultant (CDDC) and Certified Defective Drywall Remediator (CDDR).
