Kultur announces the release of Jules Massenet’s La Vierge, an oratorio in four scenes, will be available on DVD October 27, 2009 for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

This work by Massenet with libretto by Charles Grandmougin was first performed at the Opera in Paris on May 22, 1880. The Oratorio is a recounting of the story of the Virgin Mary, from the Annunciation to her death.

This performance features Montserrat Caballé and the Orchestra Sinfonica del Festival di Padua and was performed at the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli (the Church of Saint Mary of the Angels) in Rome, conducted by Jose Collado

La Vierge will be available on DVD on October 27, 2009 for a suggested retail price of $29.99.
