Continuous Miner Proximity Detection Partnership Inked Between Joy Mining Machinery and Matrix Design Group
Bluefield, WV, September 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Matrix Design Group, LLC announced today the partnership agreement between Joy Mining Machinery and Matrix for development and distribution of a Continuous Miner Proximity Detection system. The agreement gives Joy the right to market, sell, install, and service the proximity detection system while also taking part in the continual development and refining of the system.

Joy will be critical in getting these systems into production mines quickly and ensuring that every installation of the system has the highest level of support.”

The Continuous Miner Proximity Detection System is an operator training device that will automatically warn personnel that they are entering an unsafe area (Red Zone) around a continuous miner (CM) and disable tram and boom movement if they enter the CM’s turning radius during tramming. The system is intended to help miners develop an awareness of the Red Zone and instill safe operating practices. Joy and Matrix are working jointly with the industry to complete detailed design, testing and product risk analysis, before the global launch of the product.
