Participating Sponsors of 18th Annual AIDS Walk San Diego

San Diego, CA, September 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Along with hundreds of volunteers, Debt Free League and other corporate sponsors joined more than 30 HIV/AIDS service and education providers to benefit the 18th Annual AIDS Walk San Diego. AIDS Walk San Diego is the largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser and non-governmental provider of funds for San Diego County HIV/AIDS service organizations. Due to growing HIV and AIDS awareness in the San Diego Press Release, the charitable event has grown more each year. In 2006, it raised over $400,000. But in 2007, over $620,000 in donations were raised.

First started in 1987 as the Walk of Life, AIDS Walk San Diego was established in 1989 through a unique funding partnership with the San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative, combined with donations from other philanthropists and foundations that contribute matching funds. The event has now raised more than $6.5 million.

As a direct sponsor of Team Reuben, Debt Free League representatives joined ranks with Team Reuben leader, Vivian Eldridge and family. Ms. Eldridge started raising funds for AIDS awareness and research on behalf of Team Reuben in honor of her brother Reuben Ramirez who passed away from AIDS in 1994.

“I was very touched by how my brother suffered from this terrible disease and each year, with support of family and friends, I help raise funds so we can find a cure to help people that are really sick and can’t do for themselves”, passionately states Ms. Eldridge. In direct support of “Team Reuben”, Eric Santa Cruz, Vice President of Debt Free League states, this was a very meaningful experience to help stop the spread of AIDS.” Some of the other event sponsors included Nordstroms, Pfizer, Qualcomm, Sempra, Wells Fargo, and Starbucks.
