Sponsors of YME National Breast Cancer Organization Walk

San Diego, CA, September 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Besides helping families to get out of debt, this Mother’s Day, Debt Free League became a proud sponsor and participant in Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization’s 3-Mile Walk to Empower. The commemorative charity event took place at Mariner’s Point in Mission Bay Park, San Diego, CA. Some major sponsors of the event included McDonald’s, Walgreens, Vons, and United Airlines.

Thousands of people hit the city streets and either ran or walked to raise funds for Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization™ events, which also took place in other cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Denver, Houston, Miami, Phoenix, Sacramento, Seattle, Tulsa, and Washington, D.C. The funds raised from all Y-ME Mother’s Day events will benefit programs and services for people afflicted by breast cancer and their immediate families.

Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization provides information, empowerment and peer support for breast cancer survivors and their families. They have the only 24-hour hotline with trained peer counselors who are breast cancer survivors, with interpreters in 150 languages. They also have national affiliates that provide support groups, breast health awareness workshops, wigs and prostheses for women with limited resources, and advocacy on breast cancer related policies.

“We take great pride being a sponsor of Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization’s 3-Mile Walk to Empower”, states Eric Santacruz, co-founder of Debt Free League who also walked the 3-mile event. “It’s alarming that every year, more than 180,000 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer, but the good thing is that Y-ME offers many essential free-of-charge resources to support them. Our Debt Liquidation Program is also into helping people and we’re glad we participated in the event.”
