f8 Photo Studios to Host Photog Shootout in Raleigh NC
f8 Photo Studios wedding photographers Raleigh to host Photog Shootout November 23rd 24th 2009 sponsored by Verbatim.
Raleigh, NC, September 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In May of 2009, Jonathan Kaz and Cara Galati, principle photographers of f8 Photo Studios, received a call from Maine native Kris McElligott wanting the Raleigh based studio to not only lead a shoot group at the seminar in Kennibunkport, but also keynote the evening's wrap-up party in order to introduce the "Pine Tree State" to f8's "Southern Fried" style.
"Southern weddings and Northern weddings are completely different", said Cara Galati. "In the South, bridal shoots are one of the most important moments for the bride and her family. As a dry run, we have come across some wardrobe malfunctions make-up mishaps, and even dresses that didn't fit as planned."
Rewind several months and thousands of miles away, the two studios met at a "DWF" or Digital Wedding Forum convention in Carefree, Arizona and quickly appreciated the style and business concepts of one another's studio. "It was a shocking phone call to receive", stated Kaz (as he likes to be called) "years back I had a studio in Waterville, Maine, so it was exciting to see us invited up to be amongst our peers who we really connect with."
The Photog Shootout was created by Wilmington, Delaware based photographer Rob Nicholson of Humbled Eyes Photography and consists of a variety of adventures to get photographers away from their computers in order to socialize and learn with other local colleagues.
The idea germinated when Rob was traveling to San Diego and wanted to find out what was going on in the local photography industry there.
His dream website will have a map of the world where you could click an area on the map where you would be traveling to and narrow all the way down to a city or region with a local grassroots approach.
The Photog Shootout has been hosted in area's such as New York City, Washington, D.C., Indianapolis and several cities throughout Southern California.
"Rob recently added, "With help from sponsors like DWF, ShootDotEdit, Bogen and Triple Scoop Music, it makes it possible to reach out and host in other regions like the Carolina's and Raleigh based f8 Photo Studios.
Cara Galati stated that "f8 Photo Studios hosts a number of regional photography workshops dubbed "beyond the f/stop" that cover live shoots, processing and business strategies sponsored by Verbatim, but to host and be apart of the photog shootout with shoot leaders like Kevin Milz of Kevin Milz Photography , Stacy Borelli of Swank Photo Studio and Neil Boyd of Neil Boyd Photography (all based in Raleigh) we are able to strengthen our local community of shooters."
f8 Photo Studios and the Photog Shootout look forward to meeting other great photographers in the region and building a stronger community.
