York Maine’s Luxury Real Estate Market Heats Up - Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty Announces Two Significant Sales
York, ME, September 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A York Harbor oceanfront estate on Maine’s rocky coast, listed by Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty, recently sold at a record breaking $4,800,000, and was followed by the sale of York’s renowned landmark, Cragmere – which was listed and sold by Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty.
The record breaking property is the most expensive home sold in all of Maine thus far in 2009, per MLS data. It is also the most expensive property to ever sell in The Yorks (consisting of the coastal communities of York, York Harbor, York Beach, York Village, and Cape Neddick), topping the previous record by over $600,000, set by Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty in 2007. The 6,700 square foot home sits on 1.23 oceanfront acres surrounded by gardens, in-ground pool, and gates for privacy.
Following the record-breaking transaction was the sale of Cragmere, in Cape Neddick, Maine. Cragmere was designed by architect Antoine Dorticos in 1895, and built as a summer cottage for a prominent Philadelphia family. In 1999, Cragmere received the Maine Preservation Award presented by Governor Angus King. Cragmere was the Old York Historical Society’s third decorator show house in 1992, featured in a kitchen tour in 2004, and was one of five Shore Road properties on the recent Garden Conservancy Tour.
“During a time of economic uncertainty, the Sotheby’s International Realty® brand holds strong in markets of all sizes,” says Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC President and CEO Mike Good, “These recent two sales are a reminder of our enduring strength in the luxury market, and we are proud to have participated in both of them.”
