Coeur d'Alene, ID, September 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- 2009 Humorous Speech & Table Topics Contest for Areas D-3 and D-4

Toastmasters Can Be Funny Too.

”Toastmasters mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self confidence and personal growth”

Several Toastmasters shared with an audience of their peers and honored guests their humor and speaking abilities at the 2009 Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest for area’s D-3 and D-4 this past Saturday.

Always impressive from the nervous and wavering to the polished and perfected all contests emerged as winners. Even if they did not receive a trophy they are now one step closer to being better leaders while gaining more self confidence in their speaking abilities.

All the contestant’s in the contest were (listed in no particular order): Nick Casey, Tom Dorr, Dick Easterly, Sarah Anstett, Connie Jacobs, Mike Murray, Doug Thompson, Steve Wyttree, Anneke Connaway, Amy Meyer, Deanna Alexander, and James Turner.

Although all did magnificent jobs with their speeches and impromptu Table Topics speeches those that claimed trophies and a spot in the District D Contest on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Smith Center on the WSU Campus in Pullman Washington are as follows:
D-3 Humorous Speech: 1st Place Mike Murray and 2nd Place Steve Wyttree
D-3 Table Topics: 1st Place Anneke Connaway and 2nd Place Amy Meyers
D-4 Humorous Speech: 1st Place Tom Dorr and 2nd Place Dick Easterly
D-4 Table Topics: 1st Place James Turner and 2nd Place Deanna Alexander

A special round of applause should be given to the many volunteers that made the contest such a success. Without the help from members of several of the local Toastmasters Clubs this event would not have been possible.
