Culinary Classes for Children
Explore the many benefits of teaching children to cook.
San Francisco, CA, September 19, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Chef Gayle Gaggero is excited to report on the variety of fall classes available through Kids Culinary Adventures (KCA). Children attending these classes in KCA’s fun atmosphere learn not only culinary skills and nutrition, but academics as well like math, science, history, and geography as well as art.
“Through culinary instruction children learn to take responsibility for their food choices. This is a valuable life lesson that prepares children to be self reliant instead of depending on prepackaged foods,” says Gaggero. “Children and families need to know how easy it is to eat healthfully. Our classes teach children to prepare food while we weave in information on how to make nutritional choices and select food at the store.”
This fall KCA has expanded their programs to provide something for everyone.
Culinary, Pastry, and Baking Boot Camps are four week long courses building a foundation in classic techniques open to students age 10 – 18. In these classes your young chef will learn basic skills as well as how to prepare mouth watering delicacies in their chosen area from robust sauces to delectable dessert courses.
For those eager helpers ages 5 – 7 there will be a one day class entitled “Cootie Protection”. This class utilizes age appropriate materials to help teach young children all about bacteria… the good, the bad, and the deadly. This class will be held at Draeger’s Cooking School in San Mateo. Also at Draeger’s will be “Tapas and Mocktails” a class for 10 – 14 year olds where they’ll learn about Spanish culture and create these delicious appetizer and child friendly mocktails.
Inbetweenagers (ages 7 – 14) can cater to their inner monsters within by cooking a gourmet feast of delicacies like BBQ worm sandwiches and warlock fingers as part of the one day Little Culinary Shop of Horrors class. You’re also welcome to join in for a one day celebrity chef class and book signing surrounding Rozanne Gold’s latest children’s cookbook Kids Cook 1-2-3-: Fabulous Recipes for Young Chefs.
In addition to the offerings above KCA has partnered with the Redwood City Recreation Center and the San Carlos “Rec Connect” program for exciting culinary classes.
