Orlando Vet Turned Publicist Rallying for VA Benefits

Public affairs consultant/Veteran Frank Torres will be leading fellow vets in an effort to improve VA benefits in areas such as employment, health care, and education.

Orlando, FL, September 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Army Veteran Turned Publicist Lobbies For Veteran’s Right’s

Frank Torres never saw life taking him down this road. It had been four years after he had been discharged from the U.S Army and he wasn't making the difference he wanted to. He had broken his finger five months ago and after waiting two months to be seen, he was diagnosed without ever seeing a doctor. His finger was still broken and crooked. His phone calls from the veteran’s representative at local community colleges were not being returned, so he still was unaware of the post 9-11 G.I Bill.

He should still be grateful; thousands of military veteran’s were unemployed. Ambushed by a poor economy after exiting the military, poorly prepared by an Army transition system that had not caught on to the recession style job market. Veteran’s assistance facilities everywhere were understaffed and unable to provide the services these men and women had earned during their time in service.

One evening while browsing Facebook, Frank received a friend request from someone he did not recognize. Justin Brown was a lobbyist for veteran’s rights from Washington and inspired Frank to seek out his lawmakers and fix a system that was needed more than ever. Central Florida lawmakers were friendly and more accessible than other communities.

Frank Torres Strategies specializes in veteran’s affairs to ensure their voice is heard in Central Florida and Tallahassee. Later this year Torres will form the young veterans association of Florida; an association designed for this generation of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen to ensure that even after they’ve packed away their uniforms, their service to this country is not forgotten.
