London, United Kingdom, September 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Doug Richard, founder of School for Startups, Dragons' Den Investor, and successful serial entrepreneur delivered accelerated instruction in how to start a business to 200 UK entrepreneurs Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the British Library in partnership with the British Library's Business and IP Centre in London.

"We covered a lot of material," said Richard, "but the class is meant to be a kind of 'boot camp' for startups. The alternative is teaching a course that bores the best entrepreneurs to tears. That's a risk we can't take."

Victoria Atherstone, School for Startups Marketing Manager, says "We limited class size to ensure delegates would have the opportunity to network with one another and would have an opportunity to have direct contact with Doug. School for Startups is working to provide a 'community' atmosphere for our entrepreneurs because business doesn't happen in a vacuum. Startups are in an excellent position create collaborative relationships that are socially supportive and personally lucrative."

The School for Startup's "Start Here! Starting & Growing a Business" Course covered the six skills entrepreneurs must have in order to launch a successful startup. How to create the perfect business model, how to identify your product and your market, how to start an affordable marketing campaign and increase sales leads, using a recessionary economic environment as a competitive advantage, how to make money and secure investment.

Richard says, "The world will never know how many times I wanted to take Dragons Den entrepreneurs aside to say, 'Look, you've got something here. But you need to go back about three steps and start at the right point. You've launched your business on the wrong foot. You don't have the right premise, the right insight. You've got something that could be great . . . but you need a couple of weeks, or a couple of months with your head in the right space to get where you're going. I couldn't say that on the Den. I can say it now. When you start a business on the right foot it gathers success on its own, it markets itself to a tremendous degree. You know what you are selling, why people will love it, what it should cost . . . I want to give entrepreneurs that experience." Doug laughs. "I really do want to make everyone in the UK an entrepreneur. Isn't that ridiculous? It's a way of thinking . . . its seeing problems and obstacles as opportunities. I just think that's what the UK . . . what the world needs now. More entrepreneurs seeing more opportunities."

Doug Richard will return to the British Library on September 25th to teach "Fast Growth Marketing for Growing Businesses" which will focus on how to quickly and cost effectively market products and services. The focus will be on no-cost and low-cost solutions for new entrepreneurs.
