The PodLounge Mobile Enhances Podcasting on Nokia N91 and other 3G Phones

The PodLounge, one of the world’s leading podcast directories, announced today the release of The PodLounge Mobile for mobile or cell phone users. Designed with the new Nokia N91 in mind, users of 3G phones can now access music as well as over 31,000 podcasts, anytime, anywhere. The PodLounge Mobile, built specifically to fit the tiny screens of mobile phones, has added an extra benefit to the latest phones.

Melbourne, Australia, September 19, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The PodLounge, one of the world’s leading podcast directories, announced today the launch of its new mobile phone-compatible podcasting directory, The PodLounge Mobile. For the first time ever, there is a major podcast directory - mobile.thepodlounge.com - that has been built specifically for mobile phone users to find, listen and subscribe to their favourite podcasts or vodcasts anytime, anywhere without the need for a computer.

Mobile phones are fast becoming more than just communication devices; they are now web enabled, and have their own built-in media players amongst other things, and as podcasting grows, it seems only natural to put the two together. The PodLounge Mobile was designed with the Nokia N91 in mind, which is one of the latest mobile jukeboxes in the Nokia Nseries of mobile 3G phones. It has been tailored to fit the tiny screens of any mobile phone that is web enabled, allowing users of The PodLounge and anyone who is into podcasting, easy access to a huge podcast directory of over 31,000 podcasts, wherever they are.

The PodLounge also launched a version - psp.thepodlounge.com for PSP (Portable Sony Playstation) users in June 2006. Designed primarily as a games machine, the Sony PSP is gaining popularity as a portable media device. Simplified access to podcasts through The PodLounge for PSP just gives those who have looked at it as purely a games machine, yet another reason to consider it.

According to John McClumpha, Technical Director of The PodLounge, “One of the most frustrating aspects of using these portable devices to access podcasts or vodcasts is accessing podcast directories that are not designed for small screens. Navigating a directory that’s tailored to fit your screen makes it so much easier”.

Podcasting, for those unfamiliar with it, is a relatively new technology where ‘podcasters’ can record audio or video ‘episodes’ on topics of their choice, and listeners can subscribe and listen to them in their own time. 99% of podcasts are free to subscribe to.

The parent directory, ‘The PodLounge’ was launched in January 2006. With over 31,000 podcast feeds (more than 500,000 episodes), it is one of the world’s largest podcast directories. It is extremely user-friendly and has an extensive range of podcast topics to choose from – music, surfing, comedy, health, politics, religion and more. Whatever your passion, you’ll find a podcast for it there.
