West Palm Beach, FL, September 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Wantman Group, Inc. (WGI) is pleased to announce their selection by Florida’s Department of Transportation (FDOT) – District 4 to provide professional services for the Design-Build – Dixie Highway Flyover project in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. WGI is teamed with heavy highway contractor Cone & Graham, Inc. of Port St. Lucie. FDOT will construct a new 1,300-foot curved steel flyover along Dixie Highway through the Cities of Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton. The flyover will cross the Hillsboro River and eliminate the at-grade crossing with FEC Railroad.
Originally constructed between 1915 and 1927, Dixie Highway is receiving funds from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to construct the much-needed flyover. “The new flyover will reduce travel times and decrease conflict points along the route, thereby providing local motorist and pedestrians with a safer route while maintaining access to downtown Deerfield Beach and the amenities of Pioneer Park,” said David Wantman, President of WGI. “We are proud to be selected for this important project that will improve the quality of life in this vital part of South Florida. Investments in transportation infrastructure positively affect the economy by fueling job creation and reducing travel times. This project reflects the FDOT’s commitment to maintain and improve our infrastructure.”
The project is slated for completion during 2012.
As a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, Wantman Group has offices throughout Florida and is comprised of eight separate divisions devoted to the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Municipal, Transportation, Surveying, Subsurface Utility Engineering, Construction, Environmental and Planning services. WGI has been recognized for four consecutive years on The Zweig White Hot Firm List. The ranking included the region’s top 121 architectural and engineering firms from the magazine’s territory of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The South Florida Business Journal recently ranked WGI number 18 on the top 25 Largest Engineering Firms in South Florida.
