Marian Kraus Photography Expands McKesson Corporation’s New State-of-the-Art Chicago Facility’s Fine Art Photography Collection
Chicago, IL, September 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Fine Art Photography division of Marian Kraus Photography of St. Charles, IL was recently, once again, rewarded with the purchase of over 40 of Marian Kraus’ original photographs to be used for the decoration of interior corporate office spaces. This time his photographs were chosen by McKesson Corporation to decorate the walls of the office portion of their newly built State of the Art Distribution Center outside of Chicago, IL.
This recent project constitutes one of numerous purchases of Kraus’s fine art photography related to the corporate and health care industries. In recent years his work has been chosen for the collections of Edward Hospital in Naperville and Hinsdale Hospital, both in Illinois. In addition to health care facilities and corporate offices, his fine art photography is regularly chosen for the beautification of hotels, banks and private residences by interior design professionals and the public at large.
Founded over 175 years ago, McKesson Corporation is the nation’s oldest and largest health care services company. In addition to being the largest pharmaceutical distributor in North America, McKesson is also the nation's leading health care IT company with software and hardware technology installed in more than 70% of the nation's hospitals that have more than 200 beds. McKesson is ranked number 15th on the Fortune 500.
U.S. Pharmaceutical employees from across the country were hard at work preparing for the June 2009 opening of McKesson’s new State of the Art “Chicagoland” distribution center in Aurora, IL. The new distribution center replaced the nearby Carol Stream facility that was built in 1967. The new facility boasts 280,000 sq. ft. of space on the main floor and an additional 60,000 sq. ft of floor space on a second-story mezzanine. It serves more than 1,500 customers in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan and houses about 160 employees as well as 4 miles of conveyor belts of a highly sophisticated distribution framework.
With over three years of planning and construction, the facility is McKesson’s first distribution center to be certified by the United States Green Building Council for its use of recycled building materials, natural landscaping, motion-controlled lighting, access to public transportation and parking for fuel-efficient vehicles.
The new distribution center is a showcase for technology designed to improve the efficiency of warehouse operations. It includes two A-frame units, which enable automated picking of fast-moving products. It is also the first McKesson DC to use a “Pick-to-Light” system, which guides order fillers down the line by lighting the appropriate product shelves which ultimately will increase efficiency.
The interior design project encompasses Marian Kraus’ soothing and inspiring photography of nature themes from various locations as well as Chicago related architectural imagery. The project also included a custom photography assignment of two of the local pharmacies which distribute many of the McKesson related products. Kraus was commissioned by his client to capture the architectural interiors and exteriors as well as unique service oriented feel of these pharmacies. The resulting varied mix of images created a fertile ground for a remarkable and distinctive arrangement of collages.
The newly built facility features his work throughout some of the common areas, hallway, board room, large office and meeting place. McKesson had acquired Kraus’ work previously and has now added substantially to their existing collection.
