TerraMetrics Receives Military Training Technology's Top 100 Award
TerraMetrics, Inc., has been recognized as a Military Training Technology Top 100 company for the fourth year running. The annual listing honors companies that have made a significant impact on the military training industry.
Littleton, CO, September 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Littleton, Colorado-based TerraMetrics, Inc., a leading developer of high-precision terrain-rendering technologies and global satellite imagery for aviation, simulation and geospatial markets, announced today that it has been recognized as a top military training solution company by Military Training Technology magazine. Judged by an impartial panel of experts, the annual Top 100 listing honors companies that have made a significant impact on the military training industry through virtual simulation, live training, modeling, gaming and other technologies. Criteria included total military sales, innovation and program effectiveness.
TerraMetrics provides a commercial-off-the-shelf whole Earth rendering engine and global imagery solution that brings new rigor to simulation, training, mission rehearsal and avionics applications. This system can be integrated as a modular software plug-in and customized for applications including flight-based synthetic vision systems, simulation and field-based operations. The company’s TerraBlocks 3D terrain-rendering engine runs on a lightweight CPU/GPU platform (XP or Linux), and can render 3D terrain and high-resolution satellite imagery in real-time while maintaining high frame rates with zero-error terrain data storage. TerraMetrics also provides TruEarth 15-meter global imagery and terrain data, including two new datasets that are tuned for applications requiring smaller dataset sizes and available in ECW and jpeg2000 formats.
"We’re pleased to be recognized for the fourth year as a significant contributor to the training and simulation community," says TerraMetrics president Greg Baxes. "Today’s simulation and training exercises are becoming more sophisticated and focused on accuracy and realism to help military personnel prepare for battlefield operations. We are proud to deliver global satellite imagery products and state-of-the-art 3D terrain-rendering technologies that bring new capabilities and new levels of situational awareness to training, simulation and mission-rehearsal applications," Baxes adds.
Military Training Technology is dedicated to military training as a critical component of command readiness and service transformation. Readership includes Pentagon officials, Congressional members, U.S. military members, embassies and industry executives. About TerraMetrics
Founded in 1998, TerraMetrics, Inc., develops high-precision terrain-rendering technologies for aviation, simulation and geospatial markets. TerraMetrics was one of the first to produce and market natural-color global satellite imagery and is forging new ground in interactive 3D terrain rendering and display. As a government contractor, TerraMetrics is currently researching and developing synthetic vision systems for the Air Force that provide helicopter pilots with a continuously updated 3D terrain model of their physical landing location during zero-visibility conditions. The company is also investigating and developing a web service architecture for NASA that stores, processes and delivers massive, multi-dimensional science data sets to web-based geospatial browsers such as Google Earth.
