Coaching Steps LLC Has a National Stepfamily Day Winner
Claudette Chenevert of Coaching Steps LLC announced the winner of their National Stepfamily Day contest.
Herndon, VA, October 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Claudette Chenevert, Stepfamily Relationship Foundation Coach and founder of Coaching Steps LLC, announced the winner of her firm’s National Stepfamily Day contest today. Contestants were asked to share an example of an activity that draws their family closer together. Jennifer Slodysky submitted the winning entry by describing her family’s participation in the sport of letterboxing. Congratulations to Jennifer and to all who have found an activity the whole family can enjoy together.
Letterboxing is a combination of activities—art, orienteering, outdoor exploration, sleuthing, treasure hunting, and team work--that appeal to a wide range of ages. Letterboxers create clues and hide letterboxes in interesting locations for others to find. Each letterbox contains a rubber stamp—to mark the finder’s logbook—and a letterbox logbook—to record the stamps of those who have discovered the letterbox. Searchers begin by selecting or creating a stamp that uniquely represents them. This stamp is used to sign the logbooks found in each letterbox at the end of successful hunts and can be used again and again. Letterboxing requires good observation and puzzle-solving skills. Orienteering equipment may be helpful to follow some clues, but many clues are written for the less experienced letterboxer and can be kid-friendly too. More information about letterboxing and clues for finding North American letterboxes can be found at the Letterboxing North America site http://www.letterboxing.org/.
Said Chenevert, “It is imperative to find activities, rituals, and traditions that draw all the diverse members of stepfamilies together in new and fun ways. National Stepfamily Day is a great beginning for celebrating uniqueness as a family, and activities like letterboxing create easy togetherness and shared memories.”
