Beauté de Maman Releases Prevention of Newborn Obesity Information
Stamford, CT, October 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Michele Brown, OBGYN and founder of Beauté de Maman Products for Pregnant Women, has just released an article about a new study which focuses on the relationship between exercise during pregnancy and healthy fetal weight.
How do you define fetal obesity?
Dr. Brown: Fetal obesity, commonly known as macrosomia, is defined as fetal weight above 4,000 grams or 8 pounds 8 ounces. There is an increasing trend worldwide towards heavier birth weights. Birth weight is an important predictor of morbidity, infant survival, later childhood size, heart disease and diabetes in later life.
How much can exercise help prevent fetal obesity?
Dr. Brown: Reduction of birth weight by regular exercise can be as great as 23–28%. The study followed 36,869 pregnant women prospectively till at least 37 weeks gestation.
Beauté de Maman products were featured in Pregnancy Magazine's Best 120 Products. What is your reaction to this honor?
Dr. Brown: "We are very proud of this achievement. Pregnancy Magazine does not choose their "Best Products" lightly. We were scrutinized and we passed the tests. Our mission is safety and we don't sell anything unless it is proven safe for mother and baby. I am an obstetrician and am strict regarding what I will allow my patients to use while pregnant. I could not recommend anything for skin care or morning sickness... so I developed my own line of products. We have had our challenges, but now we are really just beginning to see the results. Pregnant women love our product line. We have over 20 consumer reviews posted on our website and we cherish each and every one of them as our job well done."
