Virtual Reality Consortium to be Led by Avesta, EnterNetica
Moscow, Russia, September 22, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Avesta Design Studio and EnterNetica have been selected to jointly lead the VR Consortium, an association for the advancement of virtual reality technologies and content development across Europe. The VR Consortium actively promotes international standardization and development of technologies for the creation of interactive 3D presentations and multi-user social environments.
The goals of the VR Consortium are to:
· promote creation of VR industry standards and specifications
· promote development of agile formats for interactive media
· unite developers of virtual reality technologies
· advance communication between technology providers and content designers
· respond quickly and flexibly to evolutionary changes in computer graphics and communication technologies
EnterNetica was chosen for its experience developing enterprise-level virtual reality solutions for clients across and the CIS. EnterNetica will build on its skills designing load-balanced server-client systems, as well as practical experience developing its Multidimension technology platform. EnterNetica will also aim to enable effective communication and information exchange between developers, service providers, outsourcers, and researchers across Europe.
Avesta Design Studio was chosen for its track record of supporting content developers and content providers, and its experience applying emerging web technologies in corporate promotion and advertisement. Avesta will focus its efforts on ensuring the VR Consortium meets the needs of content developers and international standards organizations.
“The VR Consortium is an effort between industry leaders to accelerate the pace and quality of virtual reality development,” said Andrey Tsarev, General Director of Avesta Design Studio. “With the success of virtual worlds like There and Second Life, the profitability of MMOGs like World of Warcraft, and the popularity of films like the Matrix, we’re witnessing a boom in adoption of virtual reality. The general public is coming to realize that virtual worlds are within our grasp, and that they offer a new medium for business, entertainment, and social exchange.”
“We see European development playing a pioneering role in the development of the 3D web,” stated Andronik Nazaretian, EnterNetica President and General Director. “The progress of web technologies is providing a new range of multimedia solutions to businesses. Ultimately, the next generation of virtual reality technologies is going to be fully integrated into the Internet, offering consumers and businesses intuitive means to monitor, collect, and present information, and collaborate across the globe.”
