Wearable Corn – Jonäno Launches New Maïsse™ Eco Lux Lingerie
Both manufacturers and consumers are showing great interest in products made with these new biomaterials. DuPont™ Sorona® sustainably sourced polymer is used to make Triexta fibers that are currently used in apparel.
New York, NY, October 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- With the holidays just around the bend, Jonäno introduces a corn derived fabric in their new eco chic luxury lingerie collection that is totally A-Maïsse-ing.
Underwear made from corn? Absolutely. Made partially with agricultural feedstock instead of petrochemicals, Triexta corn derived textiles are one of this season’s newest eco fabrics. In addition to making use of a material that had previously been discarded as waste, Triexta is being incorporated into new fabric blends such as the new bamboo/corn-derived fabrics that come together beautifully in Jonäno’s new EcoLux Lingerie collection. Once again, eco chic design powerhouse, Jonäno is on the cutting edge of new eco fabrics.
The Maïsse™ Collection incorporates corn based Triexta fibers developed by Dupont™ that offer a unique combination of attributes that are the perfect choice for lingerie, including: exceptional durability and softness; built-in permanent stain and ultraviolet (UV) ray resistance and outstanding elasticity while resisting stretch and sag over time. Best of all, the corn based Sorona®/Triexta piece of the puzzle provides a carbon dioxide reduction of 30 percent, while the manufacturing process reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 63 percent, compared to conventional nylon made from petroleum.
“Our company motto is From Seed To Sewn. Since 2005, the Jonäno production and design team have traveled extensively throughout the USA and North America, Europe, Central and South America, Africa and Asia searching out the best organic farms, mills, cooperatives and factories to create our collections. Our textile labs are constantly developing and discovering new cutting edge eco fabric blends and dye techniques,” says Jonäno owner/designer, Bonnie Siefers…“This collection reflects the crucial need for coexistence between nature and the urban landscape, all with the Scandinavian streamlined styling that is the Jonäno signature.”
Fusing style and sustainability into luxurious lingerie, Jonäno makes ethical fashion choices a breeze. Jon
äno's lingerie launch includes five separates including a kimono wrap, cami, boyshort, capri and chemise.
Both manufacturers and consumers are showing great interest in products made with these new biomaterials. DuPont™ Sorona® renewably sourced polymer is used to make Triexta fibers that are currently used in apparel.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has determined that Sorona® and the generic Triexta apparel fibers made from PTT (polytrimethylene teraphthalate), the latest polymer innovation from DuPont™, offer a unique combination of attributes. “In addition to the performance advantages recognized by the FTC, Sorona® is made in part from renewably sourced ingredients. It is the most transformative polymer to be introduced into the fibers industry in the last 20 years.” said John P. Ranieri, vice president and general manager -- DuPont BioMaterials Group.
