Sheehan Training Invited by Open Doors Yoga to Deliver 3 Part Nutrition Presentation

Tom Sheehan and LeAnna Brown, owners of Sheehan Personal Training in Foxboro, MA, have agreed to develop and deliver a 3 part series on nutrition which will focus on the foods that we need to eliminate and add to our nutrition plans to achieve and maintain a healthy body and mind. These nutrition modules will be presented at Open Doors Yoga in Braintree, MA on January 9, 16, & 23, 2010.

Foxboro, MA, October 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Sheehan and Brown, who are now into the fourth year of business with their training studio, believe that nutrition is the most important component of healthy living. They operate a semi-private training studio where up to three people can be in a session at once, but all nutrition plans that are developed are unique and based on a clients' goals, tastes, and lifestyles.

Sheehan, a Certified Nutrition Specialist through the American Academy of Sports Dieticians and Nutritionists (AASDN), had struggled with weight as a child, and embraced exercise shortly after graduating from high school in 1982. He kept the weight off for the majority of his life through exercise, and following a myriad of diets and weight loss supplements which usually left him hungry and starving for energy when he needed it most. Sheehan fell into the same trap that many Americans do when it comes to the messages delivered by the media. "I was a sucker for a lot of the TV commercials that promised weight loss by following their diet, and I tried them all. I found that most of them were great for short term weight loss, but not so great for developing a pattern of eating that I could follow forever."

Brown, a self-proclaimed foodie, began studying nutrition with the birth of her first child in 1993. She started reading labels and doing research on what we were feeding our infants. She soon noticed the symmetry between the advent of the Standard American Diet (SAD) and the many afflictions (mental & physical) that children are suffering from today. From this point on she only purchased organic food and immersed herself in journals and books that would provide her with the highest possible knowledge on how to provide proper nutrition to her family. "I am frankly amazed at people when they tell me they cannot afford organic food. It is usually people who spend an enormous amount of money on recreation and eating out, and they refuse to understand the toxins that can be contained in conventionally grown food," Brown says. "The sad part is that when disease sets in, it is the culmination of years of improper nutrition and most people will not recognize the link between what they eat, and how their health is affected by it."

The 3 part series will focus on the four primary evils of today's standard diet, replacing the evils and how exercise plays a part in our nutrition plan, and the effects of nutrition on the potential of and healing of the most common diseases.

Tom Sheehan and LeAnna Brown are life and business partners who operate their holistic studio with the goal of making a difference in the health and well-being of every person who walks through their door. They both possess a Masters in Business Administration and are nationally certified personal trainers, and currently conduct their own independent studies on nutrition and the effects that exercise and nutrition can have in the prevention and elimination of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
