Orange & Bronze Speakers at the Innovation Forum for Business Start-Ups
Orange & Bronze Chief Technology Officer Butch Landingin and Software Technopreneur Milo Felipe were two of the speakers invited to join the recently concluded Innovation Forum for Business Start-Ups at the AIM e-Library. The event was organized by the PSIA, Ayala Foundation, Technology Business Incubator, PESO, and Brain Gain Network.
Makati, Philippines, October 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Butch's topic focused on Grails for technopreneurs and other challenges and solutions involved with starting up a business. Meanwhile, Milo's talk focused on how he was able to start and roll out his business with the use of open-source technology.
As one of the founders of Orange & Bronze Software Labs Inc. and the company's Chief Technology Officer, Butch's talk focused on Grails for technopreneurs and other challenges and solutions involved with starting up a business. He also provided interesting insights on how marketing can be directed when it comes to technology products and how risks can be minimized during the initial stages of a business start-up.
"Preparation is always key when it comes to using open-source as a means of leveraging your business," Butch explained. "Branch off into different technologies and don't stay stuck on just one expertise because it really helps to have a synergy of all possible tools. As you start your business, using open-source can also help you keep costs to a minimum so that you don't risk losing a big amount of capital in case the business does not take off as expected." he added.
Meanwhile, Orange & Bronze Software Architect and Technopreneur Milo Felipe shared his own experience of solely starting up his online business through open-source technology, specifically using Grails. His business, SignAppnow.com, took only two people for it to get started. Milo took care of the back-end part, which involved programming, and a friend commissioned to accomplish the site's user interface. SignApp Now is a simple and easy way to create sign-up sheets online. It took him a month to officially get the business rolling in the market.
"It's always critical to release your product early because the earlier you do it, the earlier you'll get actual user feedback which are very important. It's through user feedback that you get to evaluate if you really meet the needs of your target market or not." Milo said.
Microsoft's Kirk Drage was also among the speakers in the Innovation Forum. Attendees included students, business professionals, and other individuals who are on the early stages of a business start-up and are considering the benefits of using the latest web 2.0 technologies to tap potential markets.
