Cochrane Retailers Team Up to Launch New Novel by Journalist Sarah Junkin
Cochrane, Alberta journalist and author Sarah Junkin teams up with two local businesses to launch her debut novel. Stuffed is a darkly comic novel about emotional abuse, alcoholism, and taxidermy.
Cochrane, Canada, October 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Two well-known Cochrane retailers, Bentleys Books and Java Jamboree, are teaming up to host the official book launch for the novel Stuffed, by popular Cochrane journalist, Sarah Junkin.
The event will be held at Java Jamboree, #9 312 5th Ave West in Cochrane on October 8, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Staff from Bentleys Books will be on hand to sell copies of Stuffed.
“I am delighted to be asked by Mary Lou Davis, owner of Bentleys Books, and Jessica Johnston, manager of Java Jamboree, to be the first author to kick off an exciting new concept in support of local authors,” said Junkin.
Davis and Johnston intend that the launch of Stuffed will be the first of many monthly “great books and great coffee” events to be co-hosted by the two Cochrane business owners, capitalizing on the close proximity of their stores. The pair had been discussing the idea of teaming up to promote local authors in the congenial atmosphere of Java Jamboree, so the timing was perfect when Junkin approached Davis about selling Stuffed at Bentleys Books.
“Cochrane has produced some great writers,” says Davis, citing as examples Marina Endicott (author of Good to a Fault, finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize) and Fred Stenson (author of The Great Karoo, nominee for the Governor General’s Literary Award). “Stuffed has already been selling well at Bentleys, and I believe that Sarah Junkin’s novel will also be a huge success.”
Java Jamboree is featured in the current bestselling book Cheap Eats by Calgary food critic John Gilchrist who says "The current title-holder for 'Best Espresso Bar Outside Calgary', Java Jamboree takes its Java very seriously."
