Author and Narrator Mike Luoma Offers New Audiobook "Alibi Jones" as a Free Podcast
Writer and radio announcer brings his worlds together as he narrates his new science fiction novel.
Burlington, VT, October 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Heard any good books lately? Mike Luoma wants to tell you a story. He's offering his new science fiction adventure Alibi Jones as a free, downloadable audiobook through Podiobooks.com beginning Friday, October 16th. Luoma is both the novel's author and the narrator of the audiobook. “I began recording and offering my audiobooks for free three years ago,” Luoma said. “As a DJ and a writer it dawned on me – hey, maybe if I put out a podcast of my novel it will help promote the book! It's worked pretty well.”
Alibi Jones is Luoma's fourth novel. He has just released the print version of the novel through Lulu.com: http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/alibi-jones/7256433. The ebook is available through Smashwords.com and at Amazon.com for the Kindle.
The story takes place in the year 2135. Title character Alibi Jones is a mediator for the Solar Alliance, on the trail of alien kidnappers after an old friend of his disappears. He's helped along the way by Kit, a feline-like alien known as the Dakhur, and by Piccolo, a shady human Alibi meets in a cell on the distant planet of Tek'Ti'Karn. Alibi has no idea the kidnapper's trail will lead him to discover that dangers thought long dead are still very much alive!
Alibi Jones is a sequel of sorts to Luoma's Vatican Assassin Trilogy (Vatican Assassin, Vatican Ambassador, and Vatican Abdicator) but he said it stands by itself for new readers and listeners. “Alibi is the son of BC, Bernard Campion, the protagonist of the trilogy, so there are connections to my earlier books,” Luoma said, “but you can dive right into this one without having read the others and not miss a thing. Familiar friends appear for readers who have enjoyed the first three books, but this is an all-new story – Alibi is off on his own adventures!”
Luoma offers his audiobooks as free, downloadable podcasts through Podiobooks.com, a site on fiction's cutting edge - breeding ground for breakthrough authors like Scott Sigler and J.C. Hutchins. According to Podiobooks.com: “the term podiobook was coined by (Podiobooks.com co-founder) Evo Terra to describe serialized audiobooks which are distributed via RSS, much like a podcast.” Listeners get audio book episodes through an RSS feed or by directly downloading episodes from the site. Some keep the audio files on their computers, or transfer the book to CD - most transfer the files to their MP3 players. The theme music for Alibi Jones is written and performed by Juan Carlos Quattordio.
The audiobook chapters of Luoma's Vatican Assassin Trilogy have been downloaded over 280,000 times. Luoma also presents his books as part of his Glow-in-the-Dark-Radio Podcast. His books are available in print through Amazon.com, Lulu.com and other on-line retailers, and in bookstores throughout Vermont. More information on all of Luoma's work is available at http://glowinthedarkradio.com.
