Sneak Preview Night for Teachers at Erie Art Museum
Erie, PA, October 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Educators from Erie County will get a firsthand look at artwork that will be on display in the new galleries of the Erie Art Museum when the new building opens during the Erie Art Museum’s annual teacher Open House on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 4-7 p.m. at the Erie Art Museum, 411 State Street. Educators from all disciplines and age levels can earn Act 48 credit.
“Our teacher events always have lots to do, are fun, engaging, and a great way to earn three hours of Act 48 credit. The Sneak Preview Night is an opportunity for educators of students in grades K-12 in all disciplines to familiarize themselves with the Erie Art Museum’s tour and educational programs, meet artists, and explore exhibits,” said Kelly Armor, Erie Art Museum education and folk art director.
Activities include a discussion about artwork selected earlier this year by participating Art Museum Teacher Week educators for permanent display in the new galleries of the Erie Art Museum. Educators will meet and learn from local artisans to be featured in the Museum’s upcoming Making It Better: Folk Art in Pennsylvania Today exhibit. Member of Erie’s Nepalese community will discuss Hindu sculpture and perform Nepali song and dance.
“We design the Preview Night so teachers can have fun and get their creative batteries charged,” said Armor. “Participants will learn a bit about the current and upcoming exhibits and what they can expect if they bring their students on a Museum tour.”
Registration begins at 4 p.m. and the program runs from 4:30-7 p.m. Teachers are invited to stay for a light supper.
Event sponsor Erie Federal Credit Union will be giving away special gifts to those in attendance.
Cost is $10 per person in advance or $12 at the door. Contact Stephanie at the Museum, (814) 459-5477 or email stephanie@erieartmuseum.org.
