Alexandria, VA, October 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- What: Del Ray Greens is having a contest to design and produce two large mosaics that will adorn this new building’s main entrance.
Why: The contest will celebrate the uniqueness of Del Ray’s first privately owned, LEED certified green building, which will break ground in late fall. Aptly named “Del Ray Greens,” the building--owned by local entrepreneur Julie Wadler and founder of epiphany productions, inc.--will be used for commercial, mixed use office space. One of its green features will include a community farm on its roof where organic fruits and vegetables will be grown and farming space sold to the community.
Who: The contest is open to all students who attend City of Alexandria public schools. Students must enter in collaboration with their school’s art department, which will be responsible for helping the student produce the mosaic.
How: To learn more details or to pre-register, visit www.delraygreens.com and click on Mosaic Contest under the quick links tab. The winning design will incorporate three different themes: business, local community, and environment. A team of local judges—comprised of community leaders—will help pick the winning design. The student with the best design will win $1,000 as well as their art department. The second place winner will receive $500.
