Excitement Around Mobile Marketing in Chicago
Mobile Monday (MoMo) Chicago, a community of mobile professionals that promotes the mobile industry and fosters cooperation and networking, today announced the completion of a successful first year thanks to strong leadership, a series of successful events and a rapidly growing membership base.
“We’re thrilled about the buzz building around MoMo in Chicago,” said Vivek Vaid, immediate past director of Mobile Monday Chicago. “Based on how far we’ve come in nine months with the appointment of a board, the development of a plan and increased attendance at all of our events – we’re excited about the future and proud of our success out of the gates.”
MoMo Chicago was started in January of this year and has quickly grown to surpass 250 participating members. Some of MoMo’s current participants include Sears, Motorola, Acquity Group, Interactive Mediums, Vibes Media and Mobile Anthem. For the next year the group will be led by a newly appointed steering committee comprised of community leaders including:
· Director – Ray Villares, Symmetri Marketing Group
· Events – Anthony Hand, Motorola
· Marketing – Hugh Jedwill, Mobile Anthem
· Public Relations – Kristie Heins Fox, Ruder Finn
· Website – Nicholas Paredes, Modoku
· Member & Partner Development – Raymond Reinhardt, CuddlePhish
· Finance & Sponsorship – Jeff Judge, Interactive Mediums
The monthly meetings, which take place on the third Monday of every month, continue to draw crowds comprised of a diverse group of business leaders from marketing professionals to entrepreneurs. The most successful event to date was the group’s “Start-Up Showcase” in June, which pulled in more than 80 people and featured six companies that gave demos or spoke about their mobile offerings, and was followed by a light networking social.
“We have a number of goals we’re looking to achieve this year including branding, launching a new website, creating collateral and starting to map out the mobile ecosystem in order to turn that into a useful tool for the community,” said Ray Villares, director of MoMo Chicago. “It’s great to see the grassroots excitement and momentum building in the community for mobile, in general, and MoMo, in particular. We’re looking forward to another fantastic year ahead.”
