fd2s Lands Three New Austin Projects

Austin, TX, October 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Austin-based wayfinding and environmental graphic design consultant fd2s, which is best know for its work on mega hospitals around the U.S. and large mixed-use projects in Europe and Asia, has increased its local workload in recent weeks, landing three new Austin-area projects. These new assignments are:

- Serving as the graphics consultant on the team, led by architecture firms Shepley Bulfinch and Lake | Flato, designing the city's new Downtown Library.

- Developing wayfinding and identification signage and donor recognition installations for the renovation of the Art Building on the University of Texas at Austin campus.

- Evaluating the wayfinding and identification signage needs of several new historic sites under the control of the Texas Historical Commission, and creating a master plan for addressing the signage needs of these sites.

"Because of the specialized nature of our services, we actually do more work in other parts of the U.S. and around the world than we do here in Austin," said fd2s principal Steve Stamper, "so it's nice to have a flurry of new local projects. In addition to enjoying the time not spent on airplanes, we appreciate the opportunity to do work that will be seen by our friends and families here in Austin."

These new projects will join local work in progress for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and St. David's Medical Center, as well as major out-of-town projects that include wayfinding assignments for the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center, the University of Chicago Medical Center, the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
