iUniverse Would Like to Announce the Release of Piercing the Veil by Eric Wentz
Forceful Currents of Danger Run Deep Below the Surface of Troubled Waters.
Bloomington, IN, October 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Piercing the Veil by Eric Wentz
Lieutenant Commander Grant Chisolm first considered his US Navy Seals assignment in the United Kingdom to be routine at best. Certainly his distinguished record with Special Forces in Afghanistan deserved a more honorable enterprise. His only connection to this island of fog was the knowledge that his grandfather disappeared here at the end of WWII. But the truth came to light in the usual secret fashion of the trade: Chisolm was slated to become the leading member of a handpicked-team of international soldiers. Their mission? Rescue the hostages taken by the charismatic and cunning leader of a brutal insurgency who are mercilessly attacking peaceful populations in sub-Sahara Africa. What lies behind this mantilla of military engagement is what Piercing the Veil seeks to uncover.
The irrationality of malevolent genius, bureaucratic quackery posing as government, and the link between a man's past indiscretions and present death and destruction take main stage with Piercing the Veil (published by iUniverse) main character Chisolm. The unsettling discovery that his own life is but a reflection of ancestral ambitions leads Chisolm to the realization that one must bear the responsibility of not only the sins, but also the blessings of one's forbearers. It is this discovery that leads him to the true purpose of his military training and life as well.
About the Author
Eric Wentz grew up in a small town in southern Pennsylvania where hunting, fishing, and reading the signs of nature were as much a part of the formal educational process as reading Mark Twain or William Shakespeare. The inspiration of this earthy course work eventually led him to earn a B.A. (Xavier University) in English and Social Studies, M.A. (Ohio State University) in Applied Linguistics and Italian, and both a M.A. and Ph.D. (Northern Illinois University) in Educational Administration. Twenty-five years as a high school English and Social Studies teacher combined with his service as an officer in the US Navy has earned Wentz a chest full of distinctions including teaching awards from the Department of Defense and the Department of Commerce. Wentz adds Piercing the Veil to his stockpile of literary ventures that include two books and a collection of poems. When not writing, he devotes his time to the outdoors and his wife and family.
