Blakeney Pigtails & Crewcuts: a Place Made for the Little People
As a mother with twins and a special-needs son, Hailey Arthur knows how hard it is to find a salon that specializes in cutting kids hair. That’s why she opened the Blakeney Pigtails & Crewcuts.
Charlotte, NC, October 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hailey Arthur now has a safe place to take her three children to get a haircut. And so do other moms. The Blakeney Pigtails & Crewcuts, a creative kids salon, celebrated their grand opening in the Blakeney Crossing Shopping Center on October 13, 2009.
Hailey Arthur is a mother to two-year-old twins and a five-year-old son with cerebral palsy and sensory processing disorder. In the past, cutting their hair was a struggle. That’s why she opened Pigtails & Crewcuts, a salon catering to children of all ages and their parents.
With a kid-friendly design including airplane-shaped chairs, a kid's party room, a PlayStation® 2, a Wii™ game center and movies that play throughout the salon, this environment is purposefully entertaining for kids and relaxing for parents. Plus, adults and older children will feel comfortable getting their hair cut as well. Additionally, the salon will feature unique gifts, hair accessories and is available for hosting dress-up themed parties for boys and girls.
The Blakeney Pigtails & Crewcuts is operated and managed by Hailey Arthur. "Finding a salon where my children felt comfortable has been difficult. Most stylists aren't trained to cut kids hair. And most hair salons cater to adults. In the Blakeney area, there are very few hair salons focused on kids and even fewer with stylists that have worked with special-needs kids," said Hailey Arthur.
As an added incentive to the community and to pay tribute to her son’s former school, Mrs. Arthur will donate $1.00 from the sale of every haircut from October 13th to November 30th, 2009, to the Easter Seals United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) Child Development Center.
"We are thrilled that the Blakeney Pigtails & Crewcuts has offered to donate $1.00 from the sale of every haircut to Easter Seals UCP Child Development Center. Proceeds from this event will help our school change the lives of children, with and without disabilities, by maximizing their individual potential for living, learning and growing," said Nannette Bassette, Director of Education.
Pigtails & Crewcuts is also offering an ongoing 10% discount to members of the Charlotte Mothers of Multiples (CMOM). This promotion includes retail items, haircuts and birthday parties. The CMOM promotion is in addition to the month-long Easter Seals UCP promotion.
