Randox: Winner of Manufacturing Excellence Award for Product Innovation
Crumlin, United Kingdom, October 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Institute of Mechanical Engineers has awarded Randox Laboratories the Award for Product Innovation at the Manufacturing Excellence Awards held on 25th June 2009 in London.
The Manufacturing Excellence Awards are an annual event that recognises the very best in the UK manufacturing industry and rewards manufacturing success. Entries come from a wide range of UK companies, all of which undergo a rigorous assessment process. Only the best make it to the final stages where companies get the chance to pitch their strengths and capabilities to a seven strong judging panel made up of experts in the manufacturing field. The Product Innovation category “seeks to understand how new products are designed, released to manufacture and assesses the commercial success of new products released in the last three years.”
Randox is honoured to win the Award for Product Innovation, especially as this was the first year Randox had entered these Awards. This is the second award for innovation Randox has received in 2009, after winning the Invest NI’s ‘Innovator of the Year’. As a clinical diagnostic company, innovation is essential in order to develop and produce solutions that will revolutionise healthcare worldwide. Randox reinvest 28% of annual revenue into research and development and have a quarter of its employees engaged strictly in R&D.
Randox have a reputation for producing revolutionary products, all of which make laboratory testing simpler, faster and more accurate. Biochip Array Technology (BAT) is one such example of this. BAT also known as ‘lab-on-a-chip’ can carry out up to 23 different tests at the same time, from one patient sample. Extensive research has also been carried out into specific forms of cancer such as breast and bowel cancer – two of the most common in the UK. Randox tests will identify the disease early allowing focused and timely treatment. With over 400 new tests in development this year, Randox have no intentions of slowing down.
