Advanced Liquid CO2 Assay for Rx Clinical Chemistry Analysers from Randox
Crumlin, United Kingdom, October 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Randox announce a significant improvement in liquid CO2 measurement, with improved reagent stability for on board use, calibration and shelf life on the RX Series clinical chemistry analysers.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a metabolic waste product of cellular respiration. Elevated levels of CO2 in the blood occur in hypercapnia and respiratory acidosis. CO2 levels rise with decreased alveolar ventilation due to diseases of the lungs or bronchial tree, or breathing CO2- enriched air. Depression of the overall lung capacity by certain drugs may lead to retention of CO2. Quantitative in vitro determination of carbon dioxide in serum and plasma has just got better.
Levels of CO2 are regulated by the kidneys, with extreme levels indicating difficulty regulating pH. Elevated levels may be evident in chronic lung problems such as emphysema, whereas low levels may be seen in shock, starvation, kidney failure or chronic diarrhoea.
Highlights of this improvement include improved linearity, shelf life, on board stability and correlation with competitor assays. A liquid stable CO2 calibrator is included in the kit. The RX Series of clinical chemistry analysers offer time, labour and cost savings, ensuring your laboratory testing is efficient and accurate.
