Integral Life Foundation Changes Name to One5 Foundation

Leawood, KS, October 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Integral Life Foundation today announced it is changing its name to the One5 Foundation to more closely align its name with its focus on reducing the mortality rate among children in developing nations.

The new name will be used with the tagline “One Child, One World, Five Killers.” This refers to the five greatest killers of children in the developing world:

1. Acute respiratory infections (pneumonia)
2. Diarrheal diseases (cholera, typhoid, dysentery)
3. Malaria
4. Infectious and parasitic diseases (measles, whooping cough, worms)
5. HIV/AIDS

“It is tragic that so many children in the world must succumb to these very preventable diseases,” said One5 Foundation founder and Chairman Dan Tasset. “We believe the new name will more accurately portray our role in the broader philanthropic effort to improve health care in the developing world. The One5 Foundation’s focus will continue to be on nutrition, clean water and sanitation, disease prevention, immunizations, education and treatment.

“We will help one child at a time to make this one world smaller by connecting them to the health care they need to avoid the five most deadly diseases in the world,” Tasset added.

He started the Integral Life Foundation in 2007 as an extension of his long-time business and philanthropic commitment to health care. Tasset is also the founder and chairman of Nueterra Healthcare, one of the country’s leading developers and managers of physician-owned surgical facilities. Nueterra Healthcare employees frequently lend their expertise and resources to the Foundation’s mission, and have participated in multiple trips to Haiti and Africa to bring much-needed health care services to orphans in those countries. Foundation staff also works closely with Kansas City-based C3 Missions and its Global Orphan Project.

Tasset said he believes that people in developing countries are looking for assistance, not handouts. So, the Foundation is also investing in business ventures that will increase the ability of the villages around the orphanages to be self sustaining. Investments are made through the Global Growth Fund managed by Nueterra Capital Management.

“Countries can’t depend on international handouts if they are to rise from extreme poverty,” Tasset said. “They must learn how to do it themselves, once given the knowledge and tools.”

The Foundation will celebrate its new name renewed focus during a reception at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Boulevard Brewery in Kansas City. More information is available at www.one5.org.
