Hoop Playing Rapping Baby Boomer ‘Pays It Forward’ for Kids
Syosset, NY, October 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A middle age rapping-hoop playing baby boomer is ‘paying it forward’ to help kids through basketball. StreetDaddy Basketball Entertainment has launched with two free original videos: ‘StreetDaddy’s Insane Bball Skills Video’ and ‘’The StreetDaddy Rap’ plus an interactive web portal StreetDaddy.tv.
Marty Fox of Syosset, NY founded StreetDaddy.tv with the dual goal of helping less fortunate kids play ball and entertaining a global audience in these stressful economic times. Fox has devoted much of his life to basketball as a player, coach and commissioner. Now he is donating 100% of all profits on StreetDaddy apparel to players and teams in need of equipment and tournament expenses. Fox says, ‘I can relate to the difficulty of buying sneakers and equipment as growing up we had little money and I would wear out my sneakers until they had holes in the big toe area. I would stuff cardboard into the sneakers to keep my socks from coming thru – which they often did. I used to jokingly call them my Holy sneakers – and socks. I do not want any young people to have to go through the embarrassment and discomfort I went through.’
Fox, 55 years young, still competes competitively against college-level players less than half his age. Fox says, ‘Age is in the mind, basketball is a great game you can take with you through life much like tennis and golf. I demonstrate this in our videos and in interviews.’ He has inspired many other ‘mature’ players to come out of premature athletic retirement and continue competing.
‘The StreetDaddy Rap Video’ is a funny basketball-themed rap video –it is G rated so young people can safely enjoy it. Fox say, ‘I guess a 55-year-old hooping rapper is not the norm – but it works. We also prove rap does not have to use curse words to entertain.’
‘StreetDaddy’s Insane Bball Skills Video’ demonstrates amazing shots never before attempted, including the: 30 foot Ready For Lift -Off Sneaker Shot, Behind-the-Back Ouch that Hurts Foul-Shot, William Tell Head-Squisher Balloon Breaking Drill, Upside-Down On-the-Pavement No Way Free-Throw, Between-the-Legs You Gotta Be Kiddin Me Reverse Free-Throw, Over-The-Shoulder Gotta - Go Three Pointer, Off the Court From another Zip Code Corner Shot and, of course, the video opening – Dont Look Down Time to Throw Away the Key Stepladder Shot plus many other incredible shots and skits.
Fox concludes, “Basketball has provided me with a lifetime of great memories and is still my passion. I want to give back as much as I possibly can to help others. If StreetDaddy.tv can help kids play ball through our donations and make people smile watching me rap my way through our StreetDaddy Rap video then we have accomplished everything we set out to do.”
