UNITS Solves Missing Link to Local Carnival’s Success
Free UNIT provides event-coordinator with the storage and support missing for two years
Holly Springs, NC, October 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In 2000, a four-year-old little girl had a dream. She wanted to help her doctors find a cure for the disease that was killing her; cancer. Four years after her first lemonade stand Alex set a lofty goal: to raise $1 million. With participation around the country Alex succeeded and reached her target, but shortly thereafter she lost her personal battle with the disease.
Alex’s dream continues today and is realized in a foundation in her honor. This weekend Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) continues to raise money for pediatric research through the Bethlehem Community Carnival. This is only the third year of the event, but it has already shown huge promise as a large fundraiser.
Terry Neff, owner of the local mobile storage company called UNITS, is trying to help take the carnival to the next level. A storage unit that is easily moved, packed, and relocated is just what the event was missing.
“For the past two years, event coordinator Sheri Engelhart has stocked all the supplies for the carnival at her house and transported it to the location the day it begins,” says Neff. “I suggested that we lend her a free UNIT so the vendors can store their supplies on-site, and Sheri can focus her energy on raising money for the foundation instead of worrying about the details that we can take care of.”
UNITS has become even more involved with the carnival and ALSF by sponsoring a Bean Bag Toss Booth, and recruited the local B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, AZA to run the stand and interact with the children in the area. “We have always been involved with local philanthropic events. We aren’t just a business, we’re part of the community and do all we can to help,” says Neff. “Sheri and other event coordinators always say that our UNIT is a lifesaver.”
This year, UNITS has supported Mayfair, Turning Point, several charity auctions and will continue to be involved with the community in the future. According to Neff, “If we help an organization raise money for research, and that research helps find the cure for cancer, we will be part of it. There’s no greater reward than that.”
