As the nephew of Country Stars, David & Lefty Frizzell and the son of Country Gospel Great, Allen Frizzell, Corey’s proud of his musical heritage, but took a very different path, one not filled with creating music but instead with art and boxing. Although Corey's passion for boxing kept this former Golden Gloves Champion in and out of the ring for a decade, his love for drawing has always been there. Over the years he perfected his craft, starting with cartoons and now creating portraits for the general public. In 2006, Frizzell came full circle when he started creating portraits for Country Music stars like George Jones, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt and Willie Nelson to name a few. Although Frizzell’s portraits hang on the walls of many legendary Country Music Stars and writers, his works can also be found on display in many public venues like the KY Music Hall of Fame and the world famous Nashville Palace. It looks like Frizzell found his niche, carrying on the family name while blazing a path of his own.
Corey’s charity of choice is the Lyric Frizzell Fund. In July of this year Corey’s daughter, Lyric Alana Frizzell was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare form of Leukemia and is being treated at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
