Love in Bloom
World premiere of a bawdy, bold, bodacious new Rudie-DeCarlo musical comedy.
Santa Moncia, CA, October 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Santa Monica Playhouse Actors’ Repertory Theatre is back on the boards in full force in the new musical comedy “Love in Bloom,” a tongue-firmly-in-cheek tribute to the heroes and heroines, wenches and rogues of the Bard, November 7 through December 13, 2009.
This bold and bawdy world premiere offers a garden of 1001 delights, replete with dainty damsels, dashing rogues and lusty wenches who run gaily amok in the beleaguered town of Hamelot. Magic and mayhem, fops and fairies, mistaken identity, romance and humor abound, as romantic damsels, handsome if wishy-washy Prince Hamelot, buffoon Frivolio, sly parents Pyramid and Frisbe, dizzy Lady Merrymount and other denizens of the realm insure that Jack will have his Jill, and all will be well that ends well. A complimentary dessert and nibbles buffet, included in the price of admission, make this the best theatre evening in town. (“This is a company that knows what its audience expects from an evening of theatre.” L.A. Times)
Written and directed by internationally acclaimed playwrights Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie (“Your work is brilliant!” English Shakespeare Company). Words and music by E Rudie and Matt Wrather with musical direction by Serena Dolinsky, “Love in Bloom” features Actors’ Repertory Theatre members Dolinsky and Melissa Gentry (Cinderella, Awaaay We Go at SM Playhouse; The White Day Tokyo Tour) , joined by Liz Eldridge (Midsummer Night’s Dream, Theatricum Botanicum), Jake Levy (Tea and Sympathy, Off-Broadway, the Keen Company), Zack Medway (Dietrich and Chevalier: the Musical; Our Town, The Play’s the Thing Company New York; Gilmore Girls, Without a Trace), and Tyner Pesch (The Boys from Syracuse, The Pirates of Penzance), with DeCarlo and Rudie as the king and queen of the faeries. Costume and design concept sets by award-winning designer Ashley Hayes. The eight-member cast, in the renowned Actors’ Repertory Theatre commedia-carnival style, create a host of over thirty characters, bringing to the stage all the stuff that dreams (and musicals) are made on.
“Love in Bloom” premieres Saturday, November 7 and plays every Friday & Saturday at 8PM, and Sundays at 6 PM, through December 13, 2009. General admission $25.00, Seniors & Students $20.00. For reservations and information call 1-310-394-9779 ext. 1.
