Tino Struckmann Launches Foundation to Provide Assistance to Victims of Rape

Charity to raise funds for testing of backlogged rape kits.

Los Angeles, CA, October 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The former bodyguard to the stars Tino Struckmann launched the Struckmann Foundation at the opening night of the 5th Annual LA Femme International Film Festival, Thursday October 15, 2009 at the Grove in Hollywood, and at the festival's Closing Night Gala at the Renberg Theater on Sunday night. The Foundation's stated mission is to raise badly needed funds to help keep women safe from sexual predators, and raise the funds the city needs to process a 15 year backlog of rape kits.

Struckmann says funds raised will go directly to crime labs for the processing of rape kits, women’s center and rape awareness campaigns. Struckmann was inspired in part to create the foundation because of his experience protecting female clients in his former role as a 'bodyguard.'

“I spent my life guarding women from abuse, stalkers and violence, so I have seen first hand, both professionally and privately, what the dangers are to women in society today,” he says. “I couldn't just stand by and do nothing about this problem. I feel it is my duty to help those in need; now I need the help of the community to reach all those need assistance.”

Struckmann points out that the $4 million dollars needed to process 15 years of backlogged rape kits is presently unable to be found in the city coffers. Many cities do not currently have adequate facilities or budgets to ensure the rapid processing of rape kits, allowing rapists to repeat their violent acts. Delaying the processing of evidence witch could facilitate a conviction often leads to more and worse crimes against women.

Struckmann served with the Army starting with the Military Police and ended up as an instructor after several deployments. The skills he learned there served him well and allowed him to start his own company. He began seriously pursuing the personal protection service, and found himself guarding many high-profile celebrities, politicians and even royalty the world over. Because of his service he was hired as a technical consultant many TV shows and films; he soon ended up in front of the camera due to his apparent acting abilities. Tino wrote a book for women about how to deal with stalking and enhance their own protection and soon he became known as a military and security expert often appearing on cable news programs on CNN and Fox among others.

He eventually formed his own production company, Almighty Dog Productions, and in 2008, he filmed his first full length feature “Brothers War” (released this past summer). He also starred in the movie and co-wrote it with Warren Lewis (“Black Rain”).

Struckmann is passionate about helping to keep women safe from sexual predators. “If everyone in Los Angeles were to send my foundation only $1 today, we would have all the funds needed to process all backlogged and current rape kits,” he says.
