About Salesian Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles
The Salesian Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles was founded in City Terrace just northeast of downtown Los Angeles in 1966. The result of the concerted efforts of the Salesian Society and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the club was founded on the belief that children should have a haven from which to escape the perils of the streets. In 1994 the Salesian Family Youth Center was opened and in 1999 became an affiliate of the Salesian Boys & Girls Club. Both centers, though physically separated, are united by their mission. This is done by providing programs and services to members and their families in five core areas: Character & Leadership Development; Education & Career Development; Health & Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. The clubs and all programs and services provided are open to all children ages 6-18 without regard to race, gender, socio-economic status or religious affiliation.
