Express Logic Plays Key Role in Fall Conferences

San Diego, CA, September 27, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), will play an active role in CMP’s Fall Embedded Systems Conference, ESC-Boston, and ARM’s Development Conference, DevCon, both to be held this fall. Express Logic will be one of three members of an ESC show-floor panel discussion on Linux, September 26th, from 6:15 – 7:00 PM in “The Commons” on the show floor at ESC-Boston. Then, on October 3-5 in Santa Clara, CA, Express Logic will present three papers at ARM’s Developer’s Conference, DevCon.

At ESC, Michael Barr, Consulting Technical Editor to Embedded Systems Design, will chair the ”Get to the #$*&$@!!! Point” Panel. This session brings the Linux technology debate to the exhibit floor where Barr hopes to pit opposing industry executives against each other in a live debate. Linux is a revolutionary technology with strong proponents on either side. Barr hopes to bring some focus to the heady emotionalism of what role Linux should play in embedded systems. The debate will be held on the exhibit floor, enabling ESC attendees to get involved by voicing their support for one panelists or another as the discussion continues.

According to the latest survey of Embedded Systems Design subscribers, use of both free and commercial distributions of Linux is declining. The panelists will discuss the pros and cons of Linux in real-time and embedded systems to determine if this statistical change is just a blip or an indicator of a significant downward trend. The panel will consist of John Carbone, VP of Marketing, Express Logic, Bill Gatliff, Independent Consultant, and Bill Weinberg, Strategist/Analyst, Open Source Development Lab

At ARM’s DevCon, Express Logic will present the following technical papers:
· Measuring Real-Time Performance of an RTOS, Tuesday, October 3, 2:00 – 2:45 PM. The discussion will demonstrate how to measure RTOS services, context switch, and interrupt response times on any RTOS. A free CD with sample code and full benchmark suite will be provided to all attendees.
· Using an RTOS To Support MPCore Resources, Tuesday, October 3, 10:15 -11:15 AM. Here, attendees will learn how an RTOS can simplify the challenges of dealing with multicore architectures, and achieve performance increases without rewriting single processor applications.
· Developing High-Volume Consumer Devices With the ThreadX RTOS, Wednesday, October 4, 10:30 – 11:15 AM. The talk focuses on how ThreadX helps developers bring high-volume consumer devices to market faster and at lower cost.

Express Logic recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and is proud of its increasing influence on the embedded development community. With the widespread interest in and use of ThreadX and Express Logic’s other products among embedded developers, Express Logic’s views on key industry issues have become more and more relevant. Invitations to participate in major industry events like ESC and ARM’s DevCon by technical program coordinators is one example of how Express Logic is moving into a strong leadership role in the embedded development community.
